The Memphis Youth Union
(MemYU)

oUR mISSION

We are the Memphis Youth Union, our goal is to increase youth voice and participation in the political process by designing a sustainable, replicable platform for youth voice to be heard in the
Mayor’s office. However, we cannot do this without your help and support!

our work

To combat the problem of youth not having a voice in issues that affect us, we are taking a survey to create a unified platform. Please fill out our survey here.
Memphis Youth United Platform Survey
The Memphis Youth Union (MemYU) cohort spent last year working with members of the Shelby County Commission and Mayor’s Office to form the first Shelby County Mayor’s Youth Council (SCYC) to engage government leaders to uplift youth voice in the lawmaking process. After a successful ask to include this council in the FY20 budget, MemYU’s next step is to work with the SCYC staff to raise awareness, recruit, and support the selection process for new members. We are also in the process of creating a series of informative videos giving youth the tools they need to create change in their communities.
